Automations and Controls
Smartphone app control of devices represents only one aspect of a smart home. Our objective when developing new smart home projects is to enhance the quality of daily life by enabling devices to respond to various forms of control seamlessly integrated into homeowners’ routines.
This is primarily achieved through automations and remote controls. Setting up a smart home is about introducing novel ways to control devices. In the past, toggling a switch sufficed to turn a light on or off. However, with a smart home, multiple control methods are available.
Multiple device control
Room and Zone-based Control
Efficiently organize your smart devices by allocating them to specific rooms, such as the living room, kitchen, or bedroom. This arrangement facilitates navigation within your home app, allowing you to control all devices within a room effortlessly using voice commands or other controls. Additionally, create zones comprising multiple rooms, such as downstairs, to streamline management across broader areas of your home.
Scenes and Routines
Configure a set of devices to be activated or deactivated to align with a specific mood or function. When triggering the scene, all designated devices will be controlled simultaneously. For instance, a “Movie Time” scene could deactivate all lights while activating the TV and ambient lighting to enhance the viewing experience.
Whole Home Control
With all your devices interconnected, you gain the ability to manage your entire home with a single command or automation. Envision departing your home and witnessing every light, air conditioner, fan, and other accessories autonomously powering off.
Remote Controls
Smartphone Control
Leverage the applications on your smartphone to effortlessly control your devices, create scenes, and configure automations. With your smart accessories readily accessible at your fingertips, you can manage them conveniently, even when away from home. Additionally, you can establish scenes and employ voice commands for seamless control.
Wireless Switch Control
Enhance the accessibility of your home devices by integrating dedicated wireless smart switches. These switches function as two-way switches, minus the need for wiring. For instance, placing one on your bedside table allows you to conveniently turn off your bedroom light without having to get up.
Voice Commands
Smart speakers and phone voice assistants offer seamless control over your devices, enabling the activation of routines and scenes with simple voice commands. Although speaking to a machine may not appeal to everyone initially, it proves to be a remarkably practical hands-free control method, as affirmed by our parent clients.
Automations
Time-based Automation
Configure a smart device to activate or deactivate at precise times on designated days. Additionally, you have the option to select “Sunset” or “Sunrise” timings, which adjust dynamically based on the day. Furthermore, devices can be programmed to automatically power off after a specified duration.
For waking up: Set "Wake up" scene at 8.00 a.m., only on weekdays. - OPEN curtains - Turn OFF AC - Turn ON water heater - Play music
For decorative lights that look nice but have no real lighting function: Turn ON decorative shelf lights at 7.30 p.m. Turn OFF decorative shelf lights at 10.00 p.m.
For comfortable sleep: Turn OFF AC at 1.30 a.m. Turn ON ceiling fan at 1.30 a.m.
To get ready for bed: Set "Wind down" scene at 9.30 p.m. - Turn OFF Living room track lights, pendant lights - Turn ON living room ambient lights - Turn ON all bedroom AC
For water storage heaters: When water heater is turned ON, turn OFF water heater after 20 minutes.
Sensor Automation
Establish settings for devices to activate or deactivate in response to sensor detections, such as motion sensors triggering lights. This functionality enables seamless automation of your smart home environment based on real-time sensor inputs.
For bathrooms and corridors: IF motion is detected, turn ON lights IF no motion is detected for 3 minutes, turn OFF lights
For store rooms and wardrobes: IF door sensor detects open, turn ON lights IF door sensor detects close, turn OFF lights
For cooling: IF temperature is above 29C, turn ON fan
For bathrooms: IF humidity is above 85%, turn ON bathroom fan circulator
Geolocation Automation
Configure devices to activate or deactivate, or initiate scenes based on your geolocation as reported by your phone. This feature allows for dynamic control of your smart home environment based on your physical location, enhancing convenience and automation capabilities.
When the last person leaves home: Turn everything OFF
When the first person arrives home: Turn ON entryway lights Turn ON living room fan Turn ON water heater
Conditions
At times, you may wish to refrain from triggering automations during specific times or when nobody is at home. To address this, you can utilize conditions as prerequisites for an automation to execute. These conditions are directly configured within the automation settings, providing precise control over your smart home systems.
For bathrooms and corridors: IF motion is detected, turn ON lights IF no motion is detected for 3 minutes, turn OFF lights Condition: only run during the night (sunset to sunrise)
For cooling: IF temperature is above 29C, turn ON bedroom fan Condition: only run when bedroom motion sensor detects motion
For waking up: Set "Wake up" scene at 8.00 a.m., only on weekdays. - OPEN curtains - Turn ON AC - Turn ON water heater - Play music Condition: only run when somebody is at home
Apps, Setting up, and Configurations
While the concepts discussed may seem daunting, the reality is that with today’s available technologies, implementing and configuring them is straightforward using just your smartphone. There’s no need for complex coding, servers, or backends. Instead, intuitive and logical setups are facilitated through user-friendly apps, designed in languages comprehensible to humans.
Furthermore, our products boast universal compatibility. They can be seamlessly configured on both Android and iOS devices and are compatible with a range of platforms and ecosystems, including Apple Home, Aqara Home, and Alexa apps. They integrate smoothly with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Alexa, and Xiaomi Home, and are fully compatible with voice assistants from Apple (Siri), Google (Google Assistant), and Amazon (Alexa).
